PUBLIC ART PARTY #3!
Focus on Fabrication at Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn on April 16th!
Well hello, folks!
Sorry for the long hiatus from newsletter-ing. It’s been a very busy (and snowy) winter, and I’ve been hard at work at commissions around NY for Hermès on Madison Avenue, a wall sculpture for a renowned hospital on the east side (to be offically announced soon), and a new, top secret public art project which will debut in 2029! However, I have lots of public art goodness to share, so stay tuned for more newsletters soon…
Guess what? It’s time for the next PUBLIC ART PARTY!!!
Artists: have you ever wondered how to translate your work into a permanent material for public art? Or how to find and work with a fabricator?
Curators, clients, art consultants and administrators: do you have questions about how to know if an artwork is durable, what kind of maintenance it will need, and whether an artist will be able to deliver a well-made artwork?
You're in the right place! Literally: Powerhouse Arts is an INCREDIBLE fabrication studio and community hub in Brooklyn.
The event will kick off with “Hot Topics in Public Art,” an interactive and irreverent conversation with experts from across the field. April's panel will focus on how public art is made: how to translate ideas into materials, work with fabricators, ensure art is durable and maintainable, and more. Prepare to ask and answer questions!
“Hot Topics in Public Art” Panel:
Erica Behrens - Director, USA/Canada, Mayer of Munich
Brittni Collins - Director of Public Art, Powerhouse Arts
Xenia Diente - Public Art Deputy Director, Design and Construction Excellence, NYC Department of Design and Construction
Sean Kizy - Founder & Principal, Kizy Art Productions
Mia Pearlman - Artist and Moderator
And then...we will have some fun! Tours of Powerhouse's public art fabrication studio will be available during the PUBLIC ART PARTY.
All ticket proceeds will be used to cover the cost of the event. If this is a barrier to entry, please email [email protected] for a complimentary ticket.
Can’t wait to see you there!!!
