SAVE THE DATES: October 15, 2025 & April 16, 2026!
Fall and spring PUBLIC ART PARTIES are ON
Great news! We have dates and locations (and a little preview) of the next two PUBLIC ART PARTIES…
Both the October and April events will start around 6pm, kicking off with a 45 min or so panel discussion. I will ask the panelists questions, and they will ask the audience questions, so be ready. This will be followed by—you guessed it—a party!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 at the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum in Harlem
The October “Hot Topics in Public Art” panel is in formation, but I can tell you it’s going to be excellent ;) We will discuss some of the pressing issues in public art today:
What and who is public art for, and are we asking too much of it?
What is community engagement, and who constitutes “the community?”
Does public art aid gentrification, and if so, what can or should we do about it?
Artistic censorship and self-censorship
Race and representation in public art
Does public art have to be broadly liked to be considered successful?
Do these topics interest you? Have better ideas? Please comment below!

Models, maquettes, sketches, Rhino, CAD…what is best?
Advantages and disadvantages to fabricating locally or abroad
Tariffs, inflation, labor costs or “Omg this is really expensive”
Maintenance, durability and repairs
Anything else you’d like to discuss? Please comment below.
Tickets and More Info
Tickets will again cost $15 via Eventbrite, the entirety of which goes to overhead like room rental, food, drinks, etc. If this is a financial barrier, complimentary tickets will be available.
I am also looking for fellow volunteers to help with the door, food and cleanup. Please let me know if you’d like to help make the magic happen.
Thank you for your interest in the PUBLIC ART PARTY! Tickets will go on sale for the October event before Labor Day, and capacity is a little larger than last time. If you are coming from out of town and have questions, feel free to reach out.
Also, please stay tuned for my next newsletter: Public Art and Hip Hop 2: Sculpture…
Hope to see you in October!
