Planning the next PUBLIC ART PARTY and more...
Hi public art peeps,
Happy Monday! I’m writing with some news and a request for suggestions, and I’d love your input…
Desperately seeking a (preferably FREE) location for the fall PUBLIC ART PARTY

At the Sugarhill Museum in Harlem, October 2025
Here we go again…I am seeking a space for the next PUBLIC ART PARTY!
The space has to be in the 5 boroughs, seat at least 80 people, allow food/drinks, have mics and a sound system, and be ADA accessible. I know this is a big ask, but…I need your help!
Are there any CUNY folks here? I have been trying to get in touch with the James Gallery at the Graduate Center because they are going to have a really interesting public art exhibition there, but no luck.
Any other ideas? Museums, galleries, nonprofits, academia, theaters…I am open to anything. Free spaces are what allow me to keep the ticket price at only $15 to cover refreshments and other expenses. I would be so grateful for your help with this!
SAVE THE DATE: “What Does It All Mean? In Search of a Shared Vocabulary for Public Art”

I’m super excited for this panel discussion with Jack Becker and Howana Sullivan Janzen at the 32nd International Sculpture Conference in Minneapolis in October!
What Does It All Mean? In Search of a Shared Vocabulary for Public Art
Saturday, October 24, 2026, 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM, MCAD
"Plop art, civic art, site responsive works, community engagement." What does it all mean? Do we have a shared vocabulary centered on the complex, multifaceted field of public art? How are artists, commissioners, and administrators using text and language to further expand the impacts of public art? This panel discussion will engage the audience to expand and refine our understanding of public art lingo, so we can better communicate and create public art that serves diverse audiences and contexts.
I’m hoping that the talk will be livestreamed—more info soon! I’m also curious if there is any public art lingo that you find particularly useful, descriptive, baffling, frustrating, or worthy of discussion. As we get closer to the date, maybe we can bounce some ideas around. In the meantime, please feel free to comment below!
THANK YOU in advance for your help!!! Hope you see you soon…
